Planning Board Always Stays Busy
Every second Wednesday of the month the SGF Planning Board meets to
decide on matters. In January they discussed a work program for the up
coming year. This program is consistent with the village comprehensive plan,
and includes matters regarding site plan reviews of planned capital
improvements to commercial use or dwelling, multiple family / Residential or
Industrial use property. Program matters also include the review of
subdivision of land, matters regarding zoning of land and other necessary
regulatory actions.
Currently the Planning Board is reviewing proposed changes to the Village
zoning chapter. These changes include new permitted uses in the Commercial
District and certain areas of the R2 district. A new permitted use will
allow for mixed uses in a single building. A new maximum building height of
60 feet is proposed in the Commercial District and certain R2 areas to
better meet our needs to change and grow.
In 2006 the Planning Board will take on the challenge of a regulatory
matter required by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. The
village is required (by 2008) to have adopted, by local law, regulations
(including enforcement provisions) that are intended to better protect one
of our most precious natural resources - our water.
The Planning Board welcomes any questions or comments concerning their
activities. The Planning Board looks forward to an expanded communication
opportunity of our land use and development issues by way of the village’s
new web-site http://www.sgfny.com/.
