The Village of South Glens Falls continues to be enhanced by the
volunteerism of the citizens in the community.
Joshua Symer a scout from Troop 19 recently completed painting and coding
the fire hydrants in the Village.
This project will assist our volunteer fire fighters be more efficient in
the operation of the Department. The project also has helped in beautifying
our Village. This spring a nature trail will be constructed on the upper
half of our Betar By-Way by Cody Winch of Troop 19 for his Eagle Project.
Michael Woodes of Troop 6 will begin work this spring on refurbishing the
brick 1930’s water pumping station at the lower end of the By Way next to
our present water plant.
Mrs. LaClaire and her group of volunteers this past summer built a
beautiful perennial garden and bench area at the First St. entrance to our
Betar By-Way.
The Village Enhancement Committee, at the November 16, 2005 Village Board
meeting, recognized ten homes in the Village for their improvements. The
Enhancement Committee is now planning the second annual garage sale for June
2006. In the spring, look for new banners from 5th Street to the bridge
advertising our Village as a historic place to visit, when we open Cooper’s
Cave.
The Village Enhancement Committee is also doing research and looking into
changing part of our Christmas decorations for the 2006 holiday season.
In our efforts to promote the Village we have developed a new logo,
saying “South Glens Falls The Village at Cooper’s Cave, where Fiction Meets
History.”
The Village of South Glens Falls indeed is a great place to live and to
raise families. We have dedicated helpful and appreciative citizenry
committed to making this a hallmark community. |
