Brian Abare
- Superintendent |
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce
myself. My name is Brian Abare; I am the newly appointed DPW Superintendent
for the Village of South Glens Falls. I come to the Village with 13 years
experience in public works.
I look forward to working with the Village crew which is
second to none. I assure the residents of the Village that I will continue
to maintain the Village Streets to the high standards we are known for.
The DPW crew. Luke, Pete, Rick, Jr., Mike, Jesse, Don,
and Marc are highly-trained skilled employees.
The duties of the DPW involve maintaining the Streets,
plowing, sweeping, sanding, water & sewer, hanging lights and many misc.
duties. We take great pride in maintaining our equipment to ensure many
years of service.
We continue to plan for needs now and in the future to
ensure we have the equipment and knowledge to meet those needs.
One project we just completed includes an upgrade to the
Van Buren Street sewer pump station.
The DPW had the privilege of installing a plaque by the
tree dedicated in the memory of Dave Osier at the Historical Park to honor
Dave’s years of loyal service to the Village.
On the agenda for the spring is paving parts of Hudson
Street from 5th.St. to Harrison and Main between Harrison and Stewart and
Hamilton St.
In November we got a new2005 ¾ ton Ford pick up.
We continue to have summer projects involving local
youths who work with the DPW crew and have done a fantastic job, painting,
mowing, and assisting on other projects. We also work with other communities
as needs arise.
With the coming years ahead we look forward to doing the
best for the Village residents and meeting all obligations as quickly and
efficiently as we can. We are a staff of nine and are on call 24/7 for any
emergency.

Please call the DPW at 792-4033 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. or:
after hours call the SGF Police Dept. at 792-6336.
WATER CONSERVATION Leaky toilets and faucets cause
unnecessary waste of
your water. Please help us eliminate extra pumping costs.
COMPOSTING AREA: The Town of Moreau has a composting
area at the Town
Landfill (798-8126). It is located at the corner of Route 9 and Butler Road.
Grass,
leaves, and pine needles can be deposited there anytime during hours they
are open.
STORM WATER MANAGEMENT: The Village asks everyone to
help curb unnecessary and harmful liquids and materials, such as
fertilizers, pesticides, soaps,
and sands, from being washed into the streets and into the storm sewers, as
they end
up in the river. These conditions cause problems with the river itself, the
fi sh, and
other wildlife. Anyone wishing to become involved in our Storm water
Management
Water Program should call 792-4033 and ask for Brian. Storm Water
Conservation
should be everyone’s concern.
Call for information of any kind, 792-4033. Brian Abare
